Judith's Biography 

Judith Juste was born in Camp-Perrin, a serene village in southern Haiti where life revolved around community, family, and tradition. Raised amid the warmth of shared stories and the rhythm of village life, she learned early on that words could heal, unite, and give meaning to even the hardest days.

On April 15, 1990, she left her homeland for Montreal, unaware that this journey would become one of profound transformation. Seeking refugee status, she faced numerous trials, yet each challenge became a lesson — shaping her resilience, deepening her empathy, and sharpening her voice as both woman and poet.

Her poetry is, in essence, her autobiography — a tapestry of love, pain, joy, and endurance. Through her verses, Judith shares the echoes of her roots, the struggle of adaptation, and the quiet triumphs of the soul that refuses to give up.

Now based in Alberta, she continues to contribute to the cultural and literary life of the Francophone community. As a poetess and active member of KAYANOU, a non-profit organization that organizes Alberta’s annual Francophone Book Fair, Judith helps curate literary works and ensures that art remains central to every event. Her writing stands as both testimony and invitation — a reminder that beauty can rise from hardship, and that every journey is, at its heart, a poem.
